Heritage Sea Dart Tandem Ms. Kayak says: A tandem is a good
choice for paddling partners, where one is considerably stronger than
the other. You don't have to worry about keeping near your partner when
you're in the same boat. This is especially important in open waters like
Long Island Sound, where strong winds can quickly separate single kayakers.
We have taken ours into 6-8 foot seas off Martha's Vineyard. Ours was
the only kayak that stayed upright through the surf zone, and surfed all
the way to shore - what a ride! We are selling her because she's heavy
for me to lift - 87 pounds. We've car-topped for years with our Volvo
wagon, which is nice and low. She's a great camper, carrying all you need
for two people for a weekend camping trip in the roomy fore and aft hatches.
Ingrid and Michele paddled our tandem to the Westport, CT fireworks in July 2006.
